Kamelot Phoenix Concert reviews
Good but not mindblowing
I had high expectations when I finally saw the Kamelot show, having heard so much about it. Perhaps unrealistically, my expectations were very. The performance, which was whimsical, upbeat, and entertaining, I did enjoy. Some slow moments occurred during the show, particularly when the blue men spent a little too much time looking at each other quizzically without actually doing anything. The humor at one point revolved around one of the blue men showing the audience how many marshmallows he could shove into his mouth, which, when I was ten, I would have thought was hilarious, but today - not so much. Difficult to tell was when the music was actually the result of the performers on the stage and when it was piped in prerecorded. Although some of it was quite enjoyable. The show began with the blue men spoofing on this, as one of them stopped to drink a soda while the drumming continued. The show had a more fast-paced ending, with the bit involving smart phones and the grand finale being enjoyable. I think the show would be good for kids, as there were many children in the audience. In retrospect, I made a mistake when I paid full price for tickets at around $100 a ticket.
